Start of Tax Season
Tax season for tax year 2018 will start on time for most taxpayers. The IRS has announced that they will begin to accept e-filed tax returns on January 28, 2019. Certain refunds may still see delays, and the IRS plans to release details on its operational plans in the coming days. April 15, 2019 is the filing deadline to submit individual tax returns or file an extension.
Be Aware of Fraud Risk: Everyone is Getting those Scam Phone Calls
Scammers are calling, emailing claiming to be from the IRS and are becoming more sophisticated and aggressive in these scams. The IRS does not initiate communication with taxpayers through email, nor will they call and threaten you with arrest or hefty fines if you don't provide information or immediate payment. Bottom line: the IRS will always send taxpayers written notification of any tax due via the US Mail. If you have any questions or doubts related to a letter, phone call, or e-mail, please call us before providing any financial or personal information.
